How do I keep up with Remind messages?
In Remind's account settings, turn on email, then send those emails and the school's to one Gmail label.
Remind says you choose in your account settings how to receive message notifications: by email, SMS text or through the Remind app. To get email too, follow step 2. Then send those emails and the school's to one Gmail label (step 6) and read that label once a day.
Turn on email in Remind, and Daywell reads those emails. For a Remind message that only reaches you as a phone alert, take a screenshot and share it to Daywell from your phone, or add it in Daywell on the web.
What to do
- Choose how Remind reaches you. Remind says you choose in your account settings how to receive message notifications: by email, SMS text or through the Remind app. When you download the Remind app, push notifications are turned on and Remind's text and email messages are turned off. Remind says that even if you use the app, you may still receive text messages, depending on your notification settings.
- Turn Remind's email on, if you want it in your inbox. To get email too, log in to Remind on a computer, click your name in the upper left-hand corner, choose Account settings, open the Notification Preferences tab and click the bell icon next to your email address.
- Save the numbers texts come from. Remind says text messages come from a different phone number for each teacher, and recommends saving a sender's Remind number to your contacts right after the welcome text.
- Block the texts if you need to. Remind says you can text @STOP to 81010 to block all texts from Remind.
- Merge duplicate accounts. Remind says that if you think you have more than one Remind account, you should merge them so everything lives in the same place.
- File the emails with the school's. In Gmail, make a filter for your school, daycare and activity senders and have it label them "School". Add the Remind sender to it. Choose Skip the Inbox (Archive it) only if you'll open that label every day.
- Read the label once a day. For each email, pull out three things: the date, the ask (bring, sign or pay), and which child it's for.
How Daywell helps
Daywell, the family prep assistant, does that reading and list-making for you. Connect Gmail once, read-only. Daywell looks at email and picks out the messages from school, daycare and activities. You get one list of what's coming up, which child it's for, and what to bring, sign or pay, like "Maya: field trip form, sign by Wednesday". On the iPhone and Android apps, one quiet reminder comes each morning, at a time you pick. Invite a partner and you both see the same list.
