How do I share the school schedule with a nanny or grandparent?
A nanny or grandparent does not need the school's emails. They need the few lines that apply to them: which child, which day, what time, and what to bring. Send those the same way every time, such as one short message on Sunday or a shared calendar, and ask them to reply so you know they saw it.
Connect Gmail, or forward school emails from any inbox to your Daywell address.
What to do
- Decide what they need. Pickup and drop-off times, what each child needs to bring or wear, and who to call. Leave out the newsletter, the fundraiser recap and anything that is only for you.
- Write one line per child, with the time. "Maya: early pickup, Friday, 12:30" and "Ellie: library book, Tuesday". The child, the day, the time and what to bring, so nobody has to read an email to act on it.
- Pick one place and keep it. Either one short message every Sunday evening that covers the week, or a calendar they already open. If you use Google Calendar, share it like this. Add the email address of the person or Google group. The people you share your calendar with get an email. To add your calendar, they must click the link in the email. If they only need to look, choose "See event details".
- Ask for a reply. "Got it, Friday 12:30" is enough. A line with a time in it is much harder to misread than a thumbs up.
- Send a same-day change on its own. If the pickup time or plan changes, send a separate message with the time first, not an edit to last Sunday's.
- Ask the school what someone else picking up needs. Ask the office what it needs from you before someone else collects your child, and do it before their first pickup.
How Daywell helps
Daywell, the family prep assistant, keeps that one list. Connect Gmail once, read-only. Daywell looks at email and picks out the messages from school, daycare and activities. You get one list of what's coming up, which child it's for, and what to bring, sign or pay, like "Maya: field trip form, sign by Wednesday". Invite a helper, like a nanny or a grandparent, and they see the cards for the kids you pick.
Questions parents ask
What does a nanny or grandparent see in Daywell?
Cards for the kids you share with them.
A helper, like a nanny or a grandparent, sees the cards for the kids you share with them and can mark them done. Daywell doesn't read a helper's email for your family.
How do I invite them?
Send an invite link from Settings.
In Settings, tap Create an invite link, choose Join your household, then choose who it's for.
Can they look without ticking things off?
Yes, invite them as a Viewer.
A Viewer sees the kids you pick and can't mark anything done.
Does my nanny or grandparent need Daywell first?
Yes, they get Daywell first, then open the link.
If they already have Daywell, they open the link and tap Join. If not, they get Daywell first, then open the link again.
I use Outlook or another email, not Gmail. Can I still use Daywell?
Yes, just forward them.
Yes. From any inbox, forward school emails to your own Daywell address, one at a time or automatically.
Does Daywell read all of my email?
No. It starts with who it's from and the subject.
No. It looks only at who each email is from and its subject, and skips what Gmail files under Promotions, Social and Forums. It opens the ones it judges to be from school, daycare or activities. If it can't tell from the sender and subject, it opens that one too rather than risk missing it. The privacy policy explains what is kept and for how long.
