How do I share school information with my partner so we both know what's coming up?
Pick one place you both look, and get every school message into it, not into one person's inbox. Get both of you on the school's email lists where you can, write each ask down as a task with a day and a kid, and check it together for two minutes once a week, so nobody is holding half of it.
Connect Gmail, or forward school emails from any inbox to your Daywell address.
What to do
- Get both of you on the lists. Ask the school office, each teacher and each activity whether both parents' email addresses can be on their list. Where only one of you gets something, that person forwards it the same day.
- Pick one shared place. A shared calendar you both already open, or a list on the fridge. One place, not two.
- Write the task, not the email. "Maya: wear red, Friday" and "Field trip form, due Wednesday": a day, a kid, and what to bring, wear, sign or pay. Your partner should not need to open the email to act on it.
- Say who has it. Next to each task, write the name of whoever is doing it, so the form is not signed twice, or not at all.
- Check together once a week. Sunday evening works, or any evening you're both home. Two minutes: what's coming this week, and who has each one.
How Daywell helps
Daywell, the family prep assistant, keeps that one place for you. Invite a partner and you both see the same list: everything on it now, and everything Daywell finds from here on. It's one list of what's coming up, which child it's for, and what to bring, sign or pay, like "Ellie: library book, Tuesday". When your partner adds or shares something, the item says so. On the iPhone and Android apps, one quiet reminder comes each morning, at a time you pick.
Questions parents ask
How do I invite my partner?
In Settings, tap Create an invite link, choose Join your household, then Parent, and enter your partner's email address. The link will only work for that address, so it is safe to text or email.
My partner already uses Daywell. What happens when they join?
Their children's details and their list move into your household, and you both see one list. If they leave later, the cards that came from them go with them, and the children's details stay.
Does my partner need the app first?
If they already have Daywell, they open the link and tap Join. If not, they get Daywell first, then open the link again.
We live in two homes. Can my co-parent see only our kids?
Yes, plus anything for the whole family. Invite them as a Helper: a helper sees the kids you pick and can mark things done. A Viewer sees the kids you pick and can't mark anything done. Either one also sees items for the whole family and anything they agree to help with.
Can a grandparent or a nanny see it too?
Yes, the same way: invite them as a Helper or a Viewer and pick which kids they see.
How does the list fill up?
Connect Gmail once, read-only. Daywell looks at email and picks out the messages from school, daycare and activities. With any email service, forward school emails to your Daywell address and Daywell reads them. You can also snap a flyer, or share a screenshot, a PDF or a copied text message.
How do I get Daywell?
It's in invite-only early access. Join the waitlist on getdaywell.com and we'll send one email when your spot opens. It's free while in early access.
Does Daywell read all of my email?
No. It looks only at who each email is from and its subject, and skips what Gmail files under Promotions, Social and Forums. It opens the ones it judges to be from school, daycare or activities. If it can't tell from the sender and subject, it opens that one too rather than risk missing it. The privacy policy explains what is kept and for how long.
