What's the best way for co-parents to share kids' school information?
Ask the school to send everything to both of you, so neither home depends on the other forwarding it. Then keep one shared list of what each child needs and when, with the name of whichever home is handling each one, so a form or a costume doesn't fall between two houses.
Connect Gmail, or forward school emails from any inbox to your Daywell address.
What to do
- Get both of you on the school's lists. Ask the school office, each teacher and each activity whether both parents' email addresses can be on their list. Where only one of you gets something, that person forwards it the same day.
- Keep one shared list, not two. Write each ask as a task with a day and a kid: "Maya: wear red, Friday". Both homes look at the same list.
- Say which home has it. Next to each task, write who is handling it, especially on handover days, so the form is not signed twice, or not at all.
- Check the week together. A few minutes on the coming week, on a day that suits both of you: what's due, and which home has each one.
How Daywell helps
Daywell, the family prep assistant, keeps that one list. Connect Gmail once, read-only. Daywell looks at email and picks out the messages from school, daycare and activities. You get one list of what's coming up, which child it's for, and what to bring, sign or pay, like "Maya: wear red, Friday". On the iPhone and Android apps, one quiet reminder comes each morning, at a time you pick. Invite a partner and you both see the same list.
Questions parents ask
Can my co-parent see only our kids?
Yes, plus anything for the whole family. Invite them as a Helper: a helper sees the kids you pick and can mark things done. A Viewer sees the kids you pick and can't mark anything done. Either one also sees items for the whole family and anything they agree to help with.
How do I invite them?
In Settings, tap Create an invite link, choose Join your household, then choose who it's for.
Does my co-parent need the app first?
If they already have Daywell, they open the link and tap Join. If not, they get Daywell first, then open the link again.
How do I get Daywell?
It's in invite-only early access. Join the waitlist on getdaywell.com and we'll send one email when your spot opens. It's free while in early access.
Does Daywell read all of my email?
No. It looks only at who each email is from and its subject, and skips what Gmail files under Promotions, Social and Forums. It opens the ones it judges to be from school, daycare or activities. If it can't tell from the sender and subject, it opens that one too rather than risk missing it. The privacy policy explains what is kept and for how long.
