How do I keep up with my kid's GameChanger schedule along with school stuff?
In GameChanger, pick the team on the Home tab, tap the gear icon, choose Schedule Sync, then Sync Schedule to Your Calendar, and choose Apple Calendar, Google Calendar or Copy Calendar Link. Put the school's dates in that same calendar, and the two show up in one place.
Paste your team's GameChanger calendar link into Daywell, and the schedule shows up and stays up to date.
What to do
- Open the team's Schedule Sync and add it to your calendar. In GameChanger, pick the team on the Home tab, tap the gear icon, choose Schedule Sync, then Sync Schedule to Your Calendar, and choose Apple Calendar, Google Calendar or Copy Calendar Link.
- Do it once for each team. GameChanger says to repeat this for each team you want in your calendar, and Google Calendar can take up to 24 hours to show changes.
- Choose which GameChanger alerts you get. In GameChanger you choose alerts for each team under the gear, then Game Alerts; if the phone's notifications for GameChanger are off, none arrive. GameChanger posts schedule updates in the team's messages in the app, with a push notification.
- Put the school's dates in the same calendar. For each school email with a date, add the date and what to bring the day it arrives, like "Ellie: bring a snack Friday".
- Check once a week. Read the week ahead for a game on a school night and write the clash down.
- Make a Gmail filter for the emails. In Gmail, make a filter for your school, daycare and activity senders and have it label them "School". Add the school's sender to it. Choose Skip the Inbox (Archive it) only if you'll open that label every day.
How Daywell helps
Daywell, the family prep assistant, does that reading and list-making for you. Paste a team or school calendar link once, and Daywell keeps those events up to date. Connect Gmail once, read-only. Daywell looks at email and picks out the messages from school, daycare and activities. Take a screenshot of the message, then share it to Daywell from your phone, or add it in Daywell on the web. With any email service, forward school emails to your Daywell address and Daywell reads them. One list of what's coming up, which child it's for, and what to bring, sign or pay. On the iPhone and Android apps, one quiet reminder comes each morning, at a time you pick. Invite a partner and you both see the same list.
Questions parents ask
How do I get my GameChanger schedule into Daywell?
Get the team's calendar link. Connect the team's calendar link in Daywell, and the team's schedule comes in alongside the school items.
Will the schedule stay up to date in Daywell?
Paste a team or school calendar link once, and Daywell keeps those events up to date.
Does the calendar include practices?
On GameChanger, a parent or player account's link includes practices as well as games; a team follower's link has games only.
I have two kids on different teams. What do I do?
GameChanger says to repeat this for each team you want in your calendar, and Google Calendar can take up to 24 hours to show changes. Copy each team's calendar link, as in step 1.
Can I stop GameChanger alerts for one team?
In GameChanger you choose alerts for each team under the gear, then Game Alerts; if the phone's notifications for GameChanger are off, none arrive.
I haven't made a GameChanger account. How do I hear about games?
GameChanger says someone invited to a team without an account gets an email with the event details and can RSVP from it, when the coach messages the team from the event.
A GameChanger message matters and it isn't in the calendar. What do I do?
Take a screenshot of the message, then share it to Daywell from your phone, or add it in Daywell on the web.
I use Outlook or another email, not Gmail. Can I still use Daywell?
Yes. From any inbox, forward school emails to your own Daywell address, one at a time or automatically.
Can my partner see it too?
Yes. Invite a partner and you both see the same list.
Does Daywell read all of my email?
No. It looks only at who each email is from and its subject, and skips what Gmail files under Promotions, Social and Forums. It opens the ones it judges to be from school, daycare or activities. If it can't tell from the sender and subject, it opens that one too rather than risk missing it. The privacy policy explains what is kept and for how long.
How do I get Daywell?
It's in invite-only early access. Join the waitlist on getdaywell.com and we'll send one email when your spot opens. It's free while in early access.
