How do I keep track of school, daycare and activities for two kids at different schools?
Two schools, a daycare and a couple of teams can mean a dozen different senders, each with its own app or newsletter. Keep one list for the whole family, not one per child, put the child's name on every item, and look at the whole week once, so a Tuesday that has three things on it doesn't surprise you.
Connect Gmail, or forward school emails from any inbox to your Daywell address.
What to do
- List every sender, per child. Each school office, each teacher, the daycare, the PTA, and every team or class. You may find more than you expected.
- One list, the child's name first. "Maya: wear red, Friday" and "Leo: library book, Tuesday" on the same list. Separate lists per child are how a busy day hides.
- Bring the team schedules in. If your team's app offers a calendar link, add it to the calendar you already check, so games sit next to school days.
- Look at the week once. Sunday evening, two minutes: which days have more than one thing, and who is doing each.
- Share it. One list both of you can see beats two people each holding half of it.
How Daywell helps
Daywell, the family prep assistant, keeps one list for the whole family. Soccer in one app, football in another, school in a third. When they email you, Daywell turns each into the one thing you need to know. You get one list of what's coming up, which child it's for, and what to bring, sign or pay. On the iPhone and Android apps, one quiet reminder comes each morning, at a time you pick. Invite a partner and you both see the same list.
Questions parents ask
Our sports team uses TeamSnap or GameChanger. How do games show up?
Connect the team's calendar link in Daywell, and the team's schedule comes in alongside the school items. On GameChanger, a parent or player account's link includes practices as well as games; a team follower's link has games only.
Our school or daycare uses ParentSquare, Remind or Brightwheel. Does that work?
Yes, and each one works a little differently. For ParentSquare and Remind, turn on email in the app's notification settings; Daywell knows them as school senders and reads those emails. Brightwheel messages arrive in the Brightwheel app, and urgent alerts can also come by text, so take a screenshot of the message, then share it to Daywell from your phone, or add it in Daywell on the web.
I use Outlook or another email, not Gmail. Can I still use Daywell?
Yes. From any inbox, forward school emails to your own Daywell address, one at a time or automatically.
How do I get Daywell?
It's in invite-only early access. Join the waitlist on getdaywell.com and we'll send one email when your spot opens. It's free while in early access.
Does Daywell read all of my email?
No. It looks only at who each email is from and its subject, and skips what Gmail files under Promotions, Social and Forums. It opens the ones it judges to be from school, daycare or activities. If it can't tell from the sender and subject, it opens that one too rather than risk missing it. The privacy policy explains what is kept and for how long.
