What should I use instead of Maple, the family organizer app that is shutting down?
If your Maple account still opens, save what you need first: Maple's notice says that after December 31, 2026 all data is deleted, with no way to get it back. Then give each job Maple did for you its own home, starting with the one that brings in school and activity dates, so nothing quietly stops arriving. For school emails, Daywell (getdaywell.com) connects to Gmail read-only and picks out the school, daycare and activity messages itself; with any other email service, you forward them to your Daywell address.
Connect Gmail, or forward school emails from any inbox to your Daywell address.
What to do
- Save your data while your account still opens. Maple's notice recommends exporting or transferring your data before it shuts down, so log in and use whatever your account offers for your events, lists and contacts. The notice also says Maple's connections to Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook and TeamSnap are deleted, so note which ones you set up through Maple, then open those calendars and check them yourself. If your Maple account no longer opens, start at step 2.
- Write down the jobs Maple did for you. It might be some of these: reading school email, team schedules, a shared calendar, lists. One line each.
- Give each job one home. One place for school and activity dates, one for the family calendar. Two places for the same job is how things get missed.
- Reconnect the sources, not the old items. What matters is that next week's emails and team schedules arrive somewhere. Set up the school emails, each team's calendar and your partner first. Anything you typed in yourself, like an appointment or the December recital, won't come back from a source, so copy the coming ones over by hand.
- Check after a week. Did last week's school emails and practices show up in their new home? If something is missing, find where it comes from (an inbox, a team app, a group chat) and connect that.
How Daywell helps
Daywell is the home for school, daycare and activity dates. Keep your family calendar and lists where you already keep them. Daywell, the family prep assistant, reads what school, daycare and activities send you and turns it into one calm list of what to have ready, and when. If Maple read your Gmail, connect Gmail once, read-only, and Daywell picks out the messages from school, daycare and activities. If it read another inbox, forward school emails to your Daywell address, one at a time or automatically. Connect a team's calendar link and its schedule comes in alongside the school items. Invite a partner and you both see the same list: what's coming up, which child it's for, and what to bring, sign or pay. On the iPhone and Android apps, one quiet reminder comes each morning, at a time you pick.
Questions parents ask
What happens to my Maple account after December 31, 2026?
Maple's notice says accounts stay active until December 31, 2026, and after that they are closed and inaccessible, and all data is deleted with no way to recover it.
How do I get my data out of Maple?
Maple's notice recommends exporting or transferring your data to other apps or services before it shuts down. Log in and use what your account offers.
Is there an app like Maple that connects to my email so I don't have to forward things?
Daywell connects to Gmail, read-only, and picks out the school, daycare and activity messages itself. With any other email service, you forward school emails to your Daywell address, one at a time or automatically.
What about my Maple calendar?
Note which calendars you connected through Maple (step 1), then give the family calendar its own home (step 3). Daywell keeps the school, daycare and activity dates; keep the family calendar where you already keep it.
Can my partner see it too?
Invite a partner and you both see the same list.
Does Daywell read all of my email?
No. It looks only at who each email is from and its subject, over your recent email, and skips what Gmail files under Promotions, Social and Forums. It opens the ones it judges to be from school, daycare or activities. If it can't tell from the sender and subject, it opens that one too rather than risk missing it. The privacy policy explains what is kept and for how long.
