How can I stop forgetting what my kid needs to bring to school?
What your child needs to bring is often asked for days earlier, in an email or a flyer: a library book, a signed form, a snack for the class, money for a field trip. Pull each ask out as a task with a day and a kid when it arrives, check tomorrow's list the night before, and pack it where you can't leave without it.
Connect Gmail, or forward school emails from any inbox to your Daywell address.
What to do
- Look for the four asks. In every school, daycare or activity email, look for what your child has to bring, wear, sign or pay for. Those are the ones that go wrong in the morning.
- Write the task, not the email. "Field trip form, due Wednesday" is easier to act on than a forwarded newsletter. Give it a day and a kid.
- Mind the repeats. Library day, gym day and show-and-tell come back every week. Write them down once as weekly, so you don't have to find the email again.
- Check tomorrow the night before. Two minutes in the evening: what does each child need tomorrow? That leaves time to print the form or find the water bottle.
- Pack it by the door. Put tomorrow's items in the backpack or by the door that night. A thing you have to remember in the morning is a thing you can forget.
How Daywell helps
Daywell, the family prep assistant, does that reading and list-making for you. Connect Gmail once, read-only. Daywell looks at email and picks out the messages from school, daycare and activities. You get one list of what's coming up, which child it's for, and what to bring, sign or pay, like "Maya: field trip form, sign by Wednesday". On the iPhone and Android apps, one quiet reminder comes each morning, at a time you pick. Invite a partner and you both see the same list.
Questions parents ask
The ask came on a paper flyer. How do I add it?
Take a photo or a screenshot, or save the PDF, then share it to Daywell from your phone, or add it in Daywell on the web. Daywell reads it and lists what it asks for.
I use Outlook or another email, not Gmail. Can I still use Daywell?
Yes. From any inbox, forward school emails to your own Daywell address, one at a time or automatically.
Our sports team uses TeamSnap or GameChanger. How do games show up?
Connect the team's calendar link in Daywell, and the team's schedule comes in alongside the school items. On GameChanger, a parent or player account's link includes practices as well as games; a team follower's link has games only.
How do I get Daywell?
It's in invite-only early access. Join the waitlist on getdaywell.com and we'll send one email when your spot opens. It's free while in early access.
Does Daywell read all of my email?
No. It looks only at who each email is from and its subject, and skips what Gmail files under Promotions, Social and Forums. It opens the ones it judges to be from school, daycare or activities. If it can't tell from the sender and subject, it opens that one too rather than risk missing it. The privacy policy explains what is kept and for how long.
