How do I keep up with my kid's school Smore newsletters?
Smore says its senders can send a newsletter by email or share a direct link. Keep the emailed ones under one Gmail label, and save the linked ones where you'll see them. Then pull out the date, the ask and which child, and write each one down as a task.
Connect Gmail, or forward school emails from any inbox to your Daywell address.
What to do
- Find out how your school sends it. Smore says its senders can send a newsletter by email or share a direct link. A school can post a Smore newsletter where it shares other family updates, like a parent portal. Look at the first one you got, or ask the school office.
- If it comes by email, file it with the school mail. In Gmail, make a filter for your school, daycare and activity senders and have it label them "School". Add the sender of your first newsletter to it. Choose Skip the Inbox (Archive it) only if you'll open that label every day.
- If it comes as a link, keep the link where you will find it. A sender can share the link to a newsletter anywhere, including social media posts. Bookmark it, or add a reminder with the link on the day it's due.
- If they stop arriving, ask the school. The sender builds and manages the email lists within Smore. Ask the school office to add your address.
- Open it once and write down the tasks. Read it once and pull out three things: the date, the ask and which child, like "Ellie: book fair, send $5, Wednesday". Write down the task, not the newsletter.
How Daywell helps
Daywell, the family prep assistant, does that reading and list-making for you. Connect Gmail once, read-only. Daywell looks at email and picks out the messages from school, daycare and activities. With any email service, forward school emails to your Daywell address and Daywell reads them. Snap a flyer, or share a screenshot, a PDF or a copied text message, and Daywell reads it. You get one list of what's coming up, which child it's for, and what to bring, sign or pay, like "Ellie: book fair, send $5, Wednesday". On the iPhone and Android apps, one quiet reminder comes each morning, at a time you pick.
Questions parents ask
My school sends the newsletter as a link, not an email. What do I do?
Bookmark the link so you can find it again. Take a screenshot of it, or share the PDF if you have one, to Daywell from your phone, or add it in Daywell on the web. Daywell reads it and lists what it asks for.
I stopped getting the newsletter.
The sender builds and manages the email lists within Smore. Ask the school office to add your address.
I use Outlook or another email, not Gmail. Can I still use Daywell?
Yes. From any inbox, forward school emails to your own Daywell address, one at a time or automatically.
A paper flyer came home from school. How do I add it?
Take a photo or a screenshot, or save the PDF, then share it to Daywell from your phone, or add it in Daywell on the web. Daywell reads it and lists what it asks for.
How do I get Daywell?
It's in invite-only early access. Join the waitlist on getdaywell.com and we'll send one email when your spot opens. It's free while in early access.
Does Daywell read all of my email?
No. It looks only at who each email is from and its subject, and skips what Gmail files under Promotions, Social and Forums. It opens the ones it judges to be from school, daycare or activities. If it can't tell from the sender and subject, it opens that one too rather than risk missing it. The privacy policy explains what is kept and for how long.
