Our PTA sends emails through Membership Toolkit. How do I keep up with what matters?
A PTA using Membership Toolkit can send a newsletter by email to any group in its database, and Membership Toolkit says parents can unsubscribe and control their subscription lists. Start by choosing which of your PTA's lists you want. Membership Toolkit says subscribers get a notification through its mobile app and/or email, and control whether they receive push notifications on the app and/or by email. Then put what arrives under one Gmail label with the school's other mail, and write down the date, the ask and which child.
Connect Gmail, or forward school emails from any inbox to your Daywell address.
What to do
- Choose your lists. A PTA using Membership Toolkit can send a newsletter by email to any group in its database, and Membership Toolkit says parents can unsubscribe and control their subscription lists. Look on your PTA's site for where to choose your lists. If you can't find where, ask a PTA volunteer.
- If you use the Membership Toolkit app, pick how it reaches you. Membership Toolkit says subscribers get a notification through its mobile app and/or email, and control whether they receive push notifications on the app and/or by email.
- Make a Gmail filter for the emails. In Gmail, make a filter for your school, daycare and activity senders and have it label them "School". Add your PTA's sender to it. Choose Skip the Inbox (Archive it) only if you'll open that label every day.
- Put volunteer asks on the list. When an email asks you to sign up or bring something, write the date, the ask and which child, like "Bake sale, bring 2 dozen cookies, Friday, Ellie".
- Skim once a week. Read the label with the school's mail, and write down the dates that matter.
How Daywell helps
Daywell, the family prep assistant, does that reading and list-making for you. Connect Gmail once, read-only. Daywell looks at email and picks out the messages from school, daycare and activities. Take a screenshot of the message, then share it to Daywell from your phone, or add it in Daywell on the web. With any email service, forward school emails to your Daywell address and Daywell reads them. One list of what's coming up, which child it's for, and what to bring, sign or pay. On the iPhone and Android apps, one quiet reminder comes each morning, at a time you pick. Invite a partner and you both see the same list.
Questions parents ask
How do I get PTA emails into Daywell?
Connect Gmail once, read-only. Daywell looks at email and picks out the messages from school, daycare and activities. With any email service, forward school emails to your Daywell address and Daywell reads them.
How do I stop getting some PTA emails?
A PTA using Membership Toolkit can send a newsletter by email to any group in its database, and Membership Toolkit says parents can unsubscribe and control their subscription lists. Ask a PTA volunteer where to do that.
A PTA post or flyer never came to my email.
Take a screenshot of the message, then share it to Daywell from your phone, or add it in Daywell on the web.
A form or flyer came home.
Share a PDF or a picture to Daywell and it reads it, on every device.
I use Outlook or another email, not Gmail. Can I still use Daywell?
Yes. From any inbox, forward school emails to your own Daywell address, one at a time or automatically.
Does Daywell read all of my email?
No. It looks only at who each email is from and its subject, and skips what Gmail files under Promotions, Social and Forums. It opens the ones it judges to be from school, daycare or activities. If it can't tell from the sender and subject, it opens that one too rather than risk missing it. The privacy policy explains what is kept and for how long.
