Which family calendar apps can read emails automatically?
Start with how the email gets in: do you forward each email to the app, or does it read your inbox once you connect it? In Cozi, turning a forwarded email into a calendar event is AI Event Import, part of Cozi Max, a paid plan. With Calendar Plus, a paid subscription, Skylight's Sidekick imports events from school emails you forward. Daywell works differently: connect Gmail once, read-only, and it picks out the school, daycare and activity messages itself, then lists what to bring, sign or pay.
Connect Gmail, or forward school emails from any inbox to your Daywell address.
What to do
- Decide what you want out of the email. An event on the calendar (where to be, when) or a task (what to have ready: the form, the costume, the money). One school email can carry both.
- Check how the email gets in. Forwarding catches only the emails you remember to forward. Check each app's own help pages to see which way it works.
- Check which plan it needs. Look at the app's own plans page for which plan includes email import, and on which devices.
- Test it on a real week. Forward or connect a week of school email and see what comes out: the dates, the asks, and whether each one says which child.
How Daywell helps
Daywell, the family prep assistant, does that reading and list-making for you. Connect Gmail once, read-only. Daywell looks at email and picks out the messages from school, daycare and activities. You get one list of what's coming up, which child it's for, and what to bring, sign or pay, like "Maya: field trip form, sign by Wednesday". On the iPhone and Android apps, one quiet reminder comes each morning, at a time you pick. Invite a partner and you both see the same list.
Questions parents ask
Do I have to forward emails to Daywell?
Not if you use Gmail. Connect it once, read-only, and Daywell picks out the messages from school, daycare and activities. From any other inbox, forward school emails to your own Daywell address, one at a time or automatically.
Can I keep my family calendar?
Yes. Keep the calendar you have, and use Daywell for what the school emails ask for.
Our sports team uses TeamSnap or GameChanger. How do games show up?
Connect the team's calendar link in Daywell, and the team's schedule comes in alongside the school items. On GameChanger, a parent or player account's link includes practices as well as games; a team follower's link has games only.
How do I get Daywell?
It's in invite-only early access. Join the waitlist on getdaywell.com and we'll send one email when your spot opens. It's free while in early access.
Does Daywell read all of my email?
No. It looks only at who each email is from and its subject, and skips what Gmail files under Promotions, Social and Forums. It opens the ones it judges to be from school, daycare or activities. If it can't tell from the sender and subject, it opens that one too rather than risk missing it. The privacy policy explains what is kept and for how long.
